Troisième miNiature (third miniature)
creation 2023
Troisième miNiature is the adaptation for young audiences of Troisième Nature, a piece created for all audiences in 2022.
With Troisième Nature (2022), we propose to the spectator a different way of looking and therefore feeling, detached from the idea of progression and the need for identification. Instead of proposing an identifiable choreographic phrasing, a specific or defined corporality, we propose a succession of images that leave room for chance, working on the figure of pareidolia, that spontaneous transformism of the visible that can make us see a horse in a cloud or a mountain range in patches of humidity. Undoing the preconceived territorializations of the gaze, de-identifying or de-hierarchizing forms to enable them to say or show something other than what we're used to getting from them.
During rehearsals, we realized that while the final form we were constructing was well suited to an adult audience, the source material, the costumes and the very principle of pareidolia deserved an adaptation aimed at a young audience. We are convinced that it's among children, those experts in the imaginary, that the kind of attention required for this exercise manifests itself in a natural, unbridled way. By slightly modifying the piece's rhythm, sound and light scores, and by allowing more recognizable forms and intentions to appear here and there, we have succeeded in creating a version aimed at children aged 5 and over: Troisième miNiature !
At the center of a circular set-up around which the audience is seated, we recompose a sensitive, non-anatomical body, made of a mirror-surface that covers each of us entirely. A core, a concretion. Like a mineral form or a heap of pixels and crushed digital images. This mass expands and contracts in space, passing through a multitude of states, sometimes revealing humanoid or animal silhouettes before drowning them again in a much more compact form, creating fleeting, uncertain images in the process.
In the movements imprinted on this monolith from within, the bodies and choreography are indeed there, but deviated, displaced, to become a landscape in motion... until the return, in extremis, of identifiable bodies, still bearing the traces of this journey among the randomness of forms.
